Bought this two months ago and it has worked perfectly! Temp might vary a degree either way and humidity goes up and down up to two degrees but always comes back to its setting. I've been into cigars for the last 25 years and really into them for the last 10. I've got a variety of smaller humidors and two Daniel Marshall's that I really like. After using every humidification system you can think of I finally decided to get a standing model that does it all for you. With this Raching humidor you just add distilled water when the light goes on and it beeps. Light will go on again when it's full so no guesswork. It maintains the temp and humidity and has a cool dehumidification drawer so you can put your sticks you will smoke that day in there and they'll be perfect when you're ready.
The unit is very cool and looks great in my office! Everyone comments when they come over. Only downside is I want to fill it up so I've been spending way more than I wanted to add the best stogies. Oh yeah, it's also really nice to be able to keep your smokes in the original boxes for storage. Sometimes that presentation is better than looking at the individual cigars! Really great humidor!
After watching many videos and purchasing two of the new air models I decided to purchase the Raching mon2800A and return the two new air models. It was packaged extremely well and was delivered without any issues.filled with water and was at temp and humidity in 24 hrs.
I loaded my unit and installed a SensorPush G1 WiFi Gateway and two sensor push sensors after programming both sensors to ensure accurate readings
After one year of use here’s my opinion
Instructions could be better with just more programming abilities with what the unit is capable of.
Unit runs great! There is a 1.5% variable between the top and the bottom not a big issue for me. Monitored by sensor push units. The Raching does read two 2% difference on the humidity there is one video on YouTube showing how to change but doesn't work for the mon2800a. Not an issue for me with the sensor push unit.
Water lasted roughly 3ish months until unit will start beeping to let you know it’s time to fill. Oddly the unit is half full still but after filling unit stops beeping. Have filled two times in one year.
After almost one year the unit was acting funny flashing an 5E code and humidity started to ramp up along with the heat. Being that I have my unit full I began to panic. After watching tons of videos and finding many ways to contact Raching I tried to contact them 4 different ways the best way is through what’s app they get back with you within 12 or so hours. They diagnosed my issues and determined it was a pump. They offered to send me one for free immediately and I opted to purchase two more for a spare. They only cost $32. Each And reading many posts pump is usually the fail point. Pumps came in within 4 days. Sent video of repair via what’s app.
If this happens to you I unplugged the unit and watched the humidity and when it started to go down within a day I plugged it back in and continued to do this until parts came in.
I open-end unit and followed instructions and had my unit running within a hour unit was back at temp and humidity within 24 hrs.
My honest opinion is this unit as awesome holds my cigars and the preferred temps and humidity customer service is great and parts do come quickly. I do wish that there is better direction on how to program to fix the 2% difference on the humidification but that’s the worst I can say, and with my experience of the great and fast communication and ability to purchase extra parts just in case was great! Things are always going to break and the ability to get the parts and support was greatly appreciated. I hope to enjoy my unit for a very long time. I did purchase the extended warranty as well just in case as a backup they didn’t come threw for the first time and told me to reach out to customer service for the parts under warranty but hopefully they will come threw after warranty expires. If not I will be reaching out again via what’s app to get parts needed.
I hope this helps with making your decision on this purchase!!!
Very good presentation and packaging, excellent communication with the seller, good performance, I really liked the quality
Decided to finally pull the trigger on one of these. Went with the MON2800 gold (the black sold out right before I pulled the trigger).
I also own 3 other humidors: 1 Newair 840, and 2x Audew 300.
Both the Newair 840 and this humidor are considerable upgrades to the Audews. The Adews are great, but if you're in the market for something more premium with active humidification, lighting, etc, then you're gonna eventually look into both the Newair top models and these.
Now, to compare the Newair and the Raching...
Drawers / Railing:
The Newair 840 comes out of the box with only 3 drawers, which is a huge setback. Luckily I managed to get a few more and have mine fully decked. The Raching comes with all 6 drawers already. No need for hunting.
The Newair has rails, the Raching does not. The manufacturer says this is to make the drawers bigger since there's no need for gaps (for the railing). I agree, the drawers have a lot more capacity and are easier to remove (which comes into play for filling up the water). Winner, drawers - Raching, railing - relative to what you prefer.
Lighting:
The lights on both are LEDs. The Newair offers a setting that will automatically turn the lights on when the door opens, the Raching does not. you have to manually turn on the lights whenever you're opening the door. This seems like a pretty big miss on Raching, considering they're supposed to be *the* top-end model. The Newair has the Raching beat here.
Lining:
The Newair is lined with plastic, the Raching is lined with cedar. Raching wins here, hands down.
Sensor quality:
Sensor for both temp and humidity is crazy accurate on the Raching. Straight up, it is the best i've seen. The Newair actually sucks at this. And I learned they have a 5-7+- from the display, which is a huge deal. Clear winner: Raching.
Air circulation:
Circulation on the Newair 840 sucks. Hands down. I had to install a couple of fans at the bottom just to get the top drawers some humidity. The distribution of humidity and cold air inside the humidor is mediocre at best, and downright awful most of the time. Maybe I have too many cigars in it... On the Raching, because it is so spacious, and has so many sensors and fans, it's awesome. Using Sensorpush to see the difference in the different areas of the humidor, I saw very little variance. The clear winner here is Raching.
Reservoir:
I constantly have to refill my Newair. At least once a week. The amount of water the Raching takes seems promising. We'll see how long it takes on average to refill, but at almost roughly 2 gallons, it seems very unlikely that I'll have to refill often. Winner so far: Raching.
While the Raching is clearly superior to almost every other humidor out of the box, there are still a few issues I have with it.
1. The door on mine came slightly crooked. The gap for the door frame is slightly larger on one side than the other. I checked the seal and it doesn't seem to actually cause any issue, but for the amount of money we pay for it, I expected better.
2. Instructions are lackluster. The booklet included doesn't really go much into the settings, and there's a lot of functionality that it has that there's zero mention of. For example, there appear to be preset options for humidity and temp, but no info on what these are for. There are also no instructions on how to properly clean the unit. Let's face it, no matter what, anything that holds water is gonna get some grime in it eventually. I've already had to perform maintenance on the Newair (which also does not include instructions for this). Would be nice for this unit to include that.
3. The handle for the unit is built into the side of the door, so opening it always feels a little awkward. Maybe offering something with an actual handle on the front of the unit, similar to Newair would not be a bad idea.
4. There seems to be a Wifi function that is disabled on models sold in the US. You can see the wifi symbol blinking but eventually, it turns off and never comes back on. There's no mention of this anywhere in the instructions, but the wiring/circuit diagrams do show a Wifi module on the unit.
5. It seems there have been some changes in the latest models that have slight differences with the videos/pictures on here. The keyhole is no longer on the bottom, and it's no longer a circular key... the keyhole is on top now, and the key itself seems to be cheaper / weaker than the circular ones. The re-positioning was a good idea, but the key being cheaper kind of sucks.
All in all, so far, it's the most impressive unit I've bought, although, for the price, I expected a little better.
If these things are taken care of, I would easily give the unit 5 stars.
Will update this review and add pictures showing the door alignment issue described.
I have given my husband the typical beautiful wood box humidors in the past, there has been the struggle of getting the packets for humidity/water etc. and him remembering to get the water and packets replaced/filled.
He did plenty of research and found the RACHING Cigar Climate Control Cabinet, MON2800 Cigar Humidor. This humidor is absolutely beautiful, we did black, and he is beyond happy with every part of it. We have had it now about three weeks and it has been constant with temperature and humidity; neither one us find it to be loud. It was important to him that the interior was Spanish Cedar, the interior smell is delightful. The lighting is very pretty and a nice extra touch.
When he did his research he got feedback from his friends who had a larger humidor, they all complained about the the location of the water fill up tank location. This one is in the front and easy to access.
His take/review on the humidor:
- With the 2 gallon reservoir, I don’t have to refill it every week
- The auto regulation of temperature and humidity
- The smell of the Spanish cedar as you open the door
- The lights in the door create an awesome effect
- The cigars that come out of it are perfect!!
